During the HECTOR School Master Program modules the HECTOR School arranges different kinds of social events for its students. One of these social events is the so called fireside chat. HECTOR School therefore invites speakers from industrial enterprises and research institutions to present and discuss an up-to-date topic with the students.
The fireside chats take place in a more casual environment and offers the students a fantastic chance to get in contact with well-known industry representatives and high-level researchers.

Sarah Meyer-Soylu, Research Area Innovation Processes and Impacts of Technology of KIT, addressed the topic of Sustainable Mobility: Theory, Forgotten Aspects and Local Actions. Within this topic, Meyer-Soylu gave an introduction into the project Quartier Zukunft in Karslruhe and used the example of sustainable mobility in Barcelona (i.e. "super blocks").

Dr. Wolfgang Faisst, assistant lecturer at Bamberg University, talked about challenges and opportunities for the CMO, Key User Cases for Big Data in Marketing and Deep-drill in Digital Advertising. In leading the product management (outbound) for “SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA”, Dr. Faisst took care of the strategic development of important SAP-solutions concerning Big Data, Real-time Computing and Cloud. Prior to that, he was the initiator of SAP Store, SAP's appstore and platform for online-marketing of SAP-products. Dr. Faisst has longtime experience as management consultant and senior project manager for Bain & Company in Munich, Zurich and London.

On Tuesday, April 23rd (Management Module 2) HECTOR School was welcoming Ralf Blasek. Mr. Blasek is the “Manager of University Programs” at IBM in Germany. 30 HECTOR and KSOP students used the possibility to get some inside knowledge on IBM.
Mr. Blasek’s main topic on this evening was “Change Leadership”. He demonstrated how to initiate and deal with successfully leading change in projects – even in larger organizations like IBM.
As a result of Blasek’s long-term experience in management positions the students could benefit from an interesting discussion concerning questions of career development possibilities.

In the Engineering Module 2 of HECTOR School Intake 2011 it was a great pleasure to welcome Dr. Carla Seidel as a fireside speaker. Dr. Seidel is Vice President Energy from the chemical company BASF. The evening's topic was the future of battery technologies. Dr. Seidel introduced some new ideas that BASF is currently working on. She also discussed strategies for new production plants with the students and the advantages of new battery technologies. Especially for the students from "Energy Engineering and Management" and "Green Mobility Engineering" this topic was of great interest.
