Prof. Barbara Deml

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Psych. Barbara Deml is Director of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Her interdisciplinary expertise combines psychology and engineering, focusing on human-machine interaction, cognitive ergonomics, and work system design. She has held leading academic positions across Germany and the United States, including research at TU Munich and Carnegie Mellon University. Since joining KIT, she has been advancing human-centered system design and organizational ergonomics, bridging psychology, technology, and industrial application for future-oriented work environments.
